Indigenous Land Acknowledgement.

Our Duty.

Sustainability Leadership would like to acknowledge that the lands we are gathered on through the Hamilton, Halton, Niagara, Brant and Peel regions are a part of a rich history. From the Metis to the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nations, including Anishinaabe , Attiwonderonk, and Haudenosaunee peoples – our lands spanning from Lake Ontario to the Niagara Escarpment are part of the traditional territories from which we gather today.  It is our duty to protect this heritage and its lands, just as our Indigenous leaders have done for centuries before us.

Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. In particular we acknowledge the territory of the Anishinabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Ojibway/Chippewa peoples; the land that is home to the Metis; and most recently, the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation who are direct descendants of the Mississaugas of the Credit.
