2021 Annual Impact Report

In 2018 we set our B Impact targets for the next five years. We have set out to reach a score of 55.0 by the end of 2019 and 60.0 by the end of 2021. In 2019 we worked with Mohawk College students to conduct our first Greenhouse Gas Inventory for our Hamilton office.

LURA implemented and participated in numerous environmental and social initiatives in 2019. Employees from our three offices (Hamilton, Toronto, Whitby) are actively involved in their local communities, volunteering on various boards and committees. Examples include: The Concession Street BIA, Hamilton Naturalist’s Club, Environment Hamilton, GTAA Welcome Committee, and the Oshawa Environmental Advisory Committee. In December 2019, staff participated in a “charity gift exchange”, donating to a variety of social and environmental charities.

Through our client services we have provided expertise and engaged the communities across Ontario on important topics such as climate change, transportation, housing, community energy, and more.

2018-2019 Annual Business Report

In 2018 we set our B Impact targets for the next five years. In 2017 we achieved a score of 70.5, but due to an adjusted point system in Version 6 of the assessment we now have a benchmark score of 51.9. We have set out to reach a score of 55.0 by the end of 2019 and 60.0 by the end of 2021.

Furthermore, our employees networked with other SHB members at events throughout the year. In 2018 we applied to do a project with the Collaborative Experiential Learning Program, and in 2019 a group of Mohawk College students will develop a GHG Baseline for our company. The SBI program has helped us to conduct baseline assessments, define goals and identify actions!

2018-2019 Profile

LURA implemented and participated in numerous environmental and social initiatives in 2018. In May, we co-hosted a 100-in-1 day workshop with the Mohawk Sustainability Office. In October, one of our employees was profiled as an Eco Hero in Environment Hamilton’s first Eco Summit. Furthermore, employees sit on the Concession Street BIA board and are actively involved in the community in which our office is located.

As mentioned above, we began the process of working with Mohawk students to calculate our GHG emissions. We are excited to follow through with this project in 2019. Through our client services we have provided expertise and engaged the public on important topics such as climate change, transportation, housing, parks, and more. We are looking forward to implementing many of the actions we identified in 2018 and reaching our 2019 B Impact goals.
